Organization: Alcove Addiction Recovery for Women (residential program). Click here for more information about The Alcove: https://www.alcoverecovery.ca/ We've been helping here for the last three years and they can use the help again and are grateful for our involvement!
Work: clean up yard (e.g. rake, pick up leaves, trim bushes and lawn/yard edges), clean out and prepare ground level and raised garden beds, plant seeds and seedlings/starter plants.
Lunch! will be provided. There will be a break at noon for lunch and to meet some clients and staff.
Group size: 12-15. Family and friends of Shell retirees are welcome to join. Please indicate the number in the registration form and the name(s) in the comment section of the registration.
What to bring: work or garden gloves, hat, sunscreen, water, rake or shovel, garden tools (please label your own tools/equipment), goggles/glasses for eye protection using power garden tools. There will be a few garden tools available to use there, but the supply and selection is limited, so bring your own (with labels on them) if you prefer. They have a weed wacker and a lawn mower that can be temperamental, so if you have any of those that you are comfortable using and don't mind bringing them along, please bring them! The more of these, the better able we will be to get the work done. There will be some seeds and starter plants already there, but if you have extra seeds and plants for the gardens and beds, you can bring them and we might find places for them. If you're unsure, ask the organizer ahead of time.
